What would Jesus do if booze sales was legal in Lubbock overnight? He'd git all liqored-up with his dozen posse of apostles and gang-bang Mary Magdeline.
Since liquor/beer/wine package sales across Lubbock city limits was approved last night, May 9th, AND the fact that Majestic and Pinkies Corporations have gotten a temporary injunction against the City of Lubbock and the TABC issuing liquor sales permits approved, there is still the potential to have liquor, and by that I mean alcoholic drinks above 18% alcohol content, sales approved in grocery stores and one-stop stores in Lubbock County. That essentially means that if all the pieces fall into place in the pending lawsuit, Pinkies/Majestic Corp vs. City of Lubbock, all the Wal-Mart’s, United's, 7-11's, Allsups, ...will potentially be able to sell hard liquor on their premises...meaning that when you go to the Wal-Mart at 4th and Frankfort, for example, to pick up a gallon of milk and a Stouffer's frozen dinner, you can ALSO buy a liter of vodka or whiskey in the aisles of a grocery store in Lubbock! Not just beer and wine which, that alone, is a MASSIVE improvement over the status quo of driving drunk out to The Strip to buy more booze. I speak for all Lubbock-based raging alcoholics in gratitude of the Lubbock electorate in being open-minded enough to FINALLY vote for approval of hard liquor, beer and wine sales all over Lubbock and not just The Strip. Now I can buy my 107 proof whiskey cheaper and walk (stumble) to my friendly neighborhood corner liquor store to replenish my supply in my life-long quest to completely pickle my liver! YES! Hard liquor sales in grocery stores and gas station convenience stores are STILL a possibility in Lubbock now that Prop I and Prop 2 have been approved overwhelmingly! Just like New Mexico! HOOO-RAAAAA!
